How Dance Command works for photographers
Get booked to shoot dance nights, hand back the photos, and charge your own clients into your own Stripe.
Your first day
- Your page: city, a line about you, and your rates (private).
- Get paid: set up your own Stripe account.
- Your phone: get the app and allow notifications.
- Take a card for your first shoot: one practice tap.
Getting booked
- Organizers ask to work with you; every night still asks you.
- After a shoot you hand the photos back to the organizer, and they are told when they arrive.
Money
- When clients pay you (a card tapped on your phone, a pay link, a pack): the transaction fee is 7.5% + $1.00, online or in person (10% with no fixed part on anything under $10, never under $0.50), one fee with nothing on top. The charge screen shows the fee, and who pays it, before you take the card; the rest lands in your own Stripe account.
- When an organizer pays you for a shoot, they pay a lower transaction fee (the one for paying your people), and you get the whole amount, in your bank on Stripe's payout schedule.
- Automatic pay (paid as soon as you check in, or when the night ends) happens only where the organizer has switched it on. Everywhere else the organizer presses Pay.
- Refunds are yours to give, from Money in the app, on any charge you took.
Who sees you
- Organizers and studios on Dance Command find you in Find people from the day you sign up. What you shoot, your city and your line about you decide how high you come up. They see your page and ask; your rates stay private.
- Your own page on Dance Command is public: the link in Share is the one to put in your bio.
Notifications
- On your phone: push notifications for answers, work and reminders are on once you allow them; news is off. Quiet hours (11 pm to 9 am) hold work and reminder pushes until morning. Change it all in Notifications.
- Email: messages a person wrote, booking asks, invites, receipts and sign-in codes always come. Automatic emails (the morning summary, reminders, nudges) are off unless you switch them on.
Other hats
One email can hold several hats, each with its own name, page and Stripe.
Still stuck? Email hello@dancecommand.com - a person answers.
